Genom denna övning ges elever en möjlighet att inspireras till forskning och vetenskap samtidigt som de får öva på läsförståelse av vetenskapliga posters och öva på att skriva vetenskapliga abstracts. De posters som används kommer från deltagarna i Stockholm International Youth Science Seminar.

The material consists of:

  • Scientific posters sorted by subject in order for your students to choose a poster within a subject of their interest.


Part 1 Writing abstracts

Write your own abstract of around 100–200 words in length based on a science poster of their choosing (links below). 

Part 2 Peer review

Practise on giving a peer-review to a class mate. You can use analytical questions as an aid:

  • How long is the abstract (no. words)?
  • How is the text divided?
  • Which aspects of the project are described?
  • How is the text written? (formal conventions, first-person/other point of view, grammatical tense, etc.)
  • What is good about the text?
  • How could the text be improved?

Remember to be respectful and objective when providing feedback on each other’s work. Start with something positive with the text you read, and  keep a positive tone giving constructive feedback and respond to constructive criticism in a positive way.
